Amazon.com Product Description When you need a reliable timepiece, but don't want to wear a watch on your wrist, there's the Timex Black Grip Clip Digital Watch. This clip watch snaps onto backpacks and belts or slips in your pocket and provides access to convenient chronograph, timer, and alarm functions. Its case and bezel made of black plastic, along with a mineral window, help this shock-resistant timepiece's durability. The watch head pivots for easy upside down viewing, and an INDIGLO night-light makes sure you can read the display at all hours. This clip-on watch is water-resistant to 165 feet.

Long time owner, great item! January 22, 2008 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this watch in December 2005 to use as a reliable but cheap timepiece during snowmobile tours in Yellowstone National Park. For two years, me and this watch experienced temeratures reaching -20 F plus... though average was probably 15 F. Still, it ran true. I even managed to wash it in my laundry, to no ill.

br /I'm now seeking a new watch, only because I cannot find a way to relplace the battery on this one. And I find myself unwilling to buy a different watch. It has treated me very well for its price, and so, I will buy the same watch for the same price. Thanks for the great all season product.
One of the best watches I ever had. March 17, 2008 NB (Smithfield, UT USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is a great watch. Very sturdy, and great for those who can't stand wearing the wrist band type watch. I've had mine for quite a few years and have only had to replace the battery one or two times. The rotating timepiece is great for switching it between belt and backpack positions.
br /About the only downside is that the locking pin holes (that keep the timepiece from freely swiveling) tend to get worn down, and about the weakest point on the watch is actially the joint for the carabiner clip, which finally broke on me after years of use.
br /other than that this is a good deal.
br /4.5 stars out of 5.
Most durable and usable watch I've ever owned March 2, 2006 Timothy Cook (Seattle, WA USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I got one of these because I was tired of wristwatches, and it was the best watch I have ever owned. It's survived some very rough trips and the rigors of college life, and I abused it a LOT. After a year I managed to break the spring on the clip-on part due to clicking it too much, but the electronics far outlasted its replacements (it suffered a LOT of being dropped and thrown around). I only stopped using this watch a couple years later, when I lost it down an elevator shaft.

br /Unlike many other clip-on watches, this thing's buttons need to be pushed down somewhat hard and held down to change the time or the alarm settings, which I consider a lifesaver. It's also an unstoppable beast of a machine. When I finally replaced it with a different model, the other watches all kept getting reset and generally died within months; this one never suffered those problems.
Durable and practical; an excellent value October 22, 2009 J. Gwen Ingram (Dexter, OR USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have always managed to really beat up wristwatches and finally solved that problem by keeping a watch in my pants pocket (a somewhat clumsy solution). I kept my eye out for a digital pocket watch until I found and bought my first of these Timex clip watches several years ago. Because the price allowed me to do so, I soon purchased a second one to solve the ongoing "argh, it's clipped to my other pants" problem. Both watches have been through the wash a couple of times (NOT on purpose) and resumed working when dried out. They've been smacked around a bit (not nearly as much as I used to smack around wristwatches!) and gave me no problems until last month when first one, then the other responded to a press on the backlight button with an odd whine and a blank display, which later spontaneously came back to life ... completely reset. Apparently this was the signal that both required new batteries -- two batteries, a tiny jeweler's screwdriver, a pair of reading glasses and less than 15 minutes each later, they are back to functioning normally, just like the day they were purchased. I have no idea what their ultimate lifespan is, and I am admittedly less rough on my "things" than some other people (though by no means am I easy on my watches). These Timex clip watches are an exceptional value, especially in a day and age when most affordable products are built to fail, or at least engineered with a finite lifespan (due to non-replaceable batteries and the like). Good for me, good for the planet in comparison to the many "disposable" watches out there ... two thumbs up!!!
Very Durable Watch for Work May 24, 2008 John (Decatur, IL) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I work in an industrial agricultural processing environment and have been wearing this watch on the job for a couple of months. The watch is mostly made of plastic and is very light weight, so I honestly had my doubts when I took it out of the box. Thankfully, my worries were completely unfounded. This watch is very durable and very easy to set and read. Just as importantly, it saves you from having to wear a wrist watch in situations were it wouldn't be ideal or practical to do so. Just clip it to your belt loop and go! (I have also found that clipping the watch to your side belt loop will save some wear and tear, compared with wearing it on the front of your pants.)
